Michelle Fischer
Michelle Fischer is the National Map Liaison for Arkansas and Louisiana.
Michelle is a geographer for the USGS, National Geospatial Program, User Engagement Office. She serves as the National Map Liaison to Louisiana and Arkansas. She works to develop partnerships and data acquisition agreements in those states to ensure the availability of elevation and hydrography datasets for a broad range of users and applications.
BACKGROUND
Geographer, US Geological Survey, Wetland and Aquatic Research Center, Baton Rouge, LA: Michelle served as a liaison between USGS and other government agencies (State and Federal) involved in coastal restoration efforts in Louisiana. Specifically, she conducted land change analysis of restoration activities in coastal Louisiana under the Coastal Wetland Planning, Protection and Restoration Act (CWPPRA) and served as the Geospatial Coordinator for the RESTORE Council, which is comprised of the five Gulf states and six federal agencies.
