Real-time and Historical Data
These pages provide access to water-resources data collected at approximately 1.9 million sites in all 50 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, the Virgin Islands, Guam, American Samoa and the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands. Online access to this data is organized around the categories listed at the bottom.
The USGS investigates the occurrence, quantity, quality, distribution, and movement of surface and underground waters and disseminates the data to the public, State and local governments, public and private utilities, and other Federal agencies involved with managing our water resources.
Real-Time Data:
Streamflow: Florida - Puerto Rico
Groundwater: Florida - Puerto Rico - U.S. Virgin Islands
Water Quality: Florida - Puerto Rico
Precipitation: Florida - Puerto Rico
Lake/Reservoir: Florida - Puerto Rico
Real-Time Data: Current conditions at selected sites based on the most recent data from on-site automated recording equipment. Measurements are commonly recorded at a fixed interval of 15- to 60-minutes and transmitted to the USGS every hour. Values may include "Approved" (quality-assured data that may be published) and/or more recent "Provisional" data (of unverified accuracy and subject to revision). Most current data are provisional.
Continuous Data:
Groundwater, map format: Puerto Rico
Groundwater, tabular format: Puerto Rico
Continuous data: Groundwater level data are collected and stored as either discrete field-water-level measurements or as continuous time-series data from automated recorders.
Historical Data:
Streamflow: Florida - Puerto Rico - U.S. Virgin Islands
Groundwater: Florida - Puerto Rico - U.S. Virgin Islands
Water Quality: Florida - Puerto Rico - U.S. Virgin Islands
Historical Data: The same data accessed by the Current Conditions link above but including both active and discontinued sites with data for any part of the period October 1, 2007, through the present. Values may include "Approved" (quality-assured data that may be published) and/or more recent "Provisional" data (of unverified accuracy and subject to revision).

WaterWatch is a U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) World Wide Web site that displays maps, graphs, and tables describing real-time, recent, and past streamflow conditions for the United States. The real-time information generally is updated on an hourly basis. WaterWatch provides streamgage-based maps that:
- Show the location of more than 3,000 long-term USGS streamgages;
- Use colors to represent streamflow conditions compared to historical streamflow;
- Feature a point-and-click interface allowing users to retrieve graphs of stream stage (water elevation) and flow;
- Highlight locations where extreme hydrologic events, such as floods and droughts, are occurring.
Annual Water Data Reports
Water Resources Data reports were published annually for many decades for use by engineers, scientists, managers, educators, and the general public. These static archival products supplemented direct access to current and historical water data provided by the National Water Information System web interface (NWISWeb), the authoritative source for USGS water data.
Beginning with Water Year 2006 and ending with Water Year 2013, annual water data reports were made available as individual electronic Site Data Sheets for the entire Nation for retrieval, download, and localized printing on demand. Over that time, NWISWeb capabilities have become more comprehensive. Building on these capabilities, USGS has moved the Site Data Sheet functions into NWISWeb. As of 2014, NWISWeb now provides an on-demand, print-ready Water-Year Summary as an annual water-data product.
2014-present: Water Year Summaries
Each site's Water-Year Summary will be available on-demand as soon as the water-year data are reviewed and approved as final.
To retrieve Water Year Summaries Navigate to the site in NWISWeb: Florida, Puerto Rico or U.S.Virgin Islands
- This takes you to the NWIS Web home page for the state. Several search options are available from there, including a Current Conditions' list of active real-time sites and the NWIS Mapper.
- The various search options will help you find individual sites.
- Once at the site page, select "Water-Year Summary" from the 'Available data for this site' pull-down menu.

Pre-2005: Water Resource Data reports
From 1962 until 2005, reports were published by State as paper documents, although most reports since the mid-1990s are also available in electronic form through this web page. Reports prior to Water Year 1961 were published in occasional USGS Water-Supply Papers and other reports.
