Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) Project
The ERP Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) Project is responsible for developing, implementing, and managing a LIMS architecture that expands the LIMS capabilities to support ERP laboratory needs for capturing, tracking, reporting, and managing sample and analysis data generated in ERP laboratories as well as data for samples submitted to external laboratories. The LIMS Project works directly with laboratory staff and Quality Management System (QMS) team to meet QMS requirements and the needs of laboratories throughout the Energy Resources Program.
The ERP Sample Submittal Form is an Excel spreadsheet that is filled in by an ERP employee or an employee funded by an ERP project when submitting samples to be entered into LIMS. The sample submittal form contains three worksheets: a ‘help’ worksheet which provides information and instructions about the form as well as a ‘client’ worksheet and a ‘samples’ worksheet which both need to be completed when submitting samples through the ERP. The information provided will be entered into LIMS and a Sample Login report will be returned to the submitter following the login process.
The completed sample submittal form should be emailed to energylabs@usgs.gov.
Geochemistry Database
Since January of 1989, the U.S Geological Survey Energy Resources Program Geochemistry Laboratory Database (EGDB) has grown to contain the analytical data for over 200,000 samples worldwide. The EGDB contains chemical analysis data for crude oil, natural gas, coal, water, and rock samples analyzed by the USGS Energy Resources Science Center’s Geochemistry Laboratory, or by contracted-service
