Landsat Collection 1 Legacy Tile Products Data Dictionary

The Data Dictionaries are a set of information describing the contents, format, and structure of elements for EarthExplorer products.

 

Acquisition Date

  • Field Definition:  The year, month, and day that the scene was acquired.

          Format:

               YYYY/MM/DD

 

Tile Version

  • Field Definition:  The data version for the Landsat Science Product Tile data set.

          Values:

          01

       

Bounding

  • Field Definition:  The latitude and longitude of the boundaries of the tile.

          Values:

          Bounding North Latitude

          Bounding South Latitude

          Bounding East Longitude

          Bounding West Longitude

 

Latitude Format Decimal Degrees: -90.000 through 90.000

Longitude Format Decimal Degrees: -180.000 through 180.000

 

CCDC Version

  • Field Definition:  The data version for the Landsat CCDC Tile data set.

          Values:

          01

 

Cloud Cover

  • Field Definition:  The percentage of non-fill data in the tile obscured by cloud cover.

 

Cloud Shadow

  • Field Definition:  The percentage of non-fill data in the tile obscured by cloud shadows.

 

Coordinates - Decimal Degrees

  • Field Definition:  The latitude and longitude are provided in decimal degrees for the following fields:

          Values:

          Scene Center Latitude and Longitude

          UL_CORNER_LAT - Corner Latitude

          UL_CORNER_LON - Corner Longitude

          UR_CORNER_LAT - Corner Latitude

          UR_CORNER_LON - Corner Longitude

          LR_CORNER_LAT - Corner Latitude

          LR_CORNER_LON - Corner Longitude

          LL_CORNER_LAT - Corner Latitude

          LL_CORNER_LON - Corner Longitude

 

          Latitude Format Decimal Degrees: -90.000 through 90.000

          Longitude Format Decimal Degrees: -180.000 through 180.000

 

          Number of decimal places will vary by dataset – check collection in EE.

 

Date Entered

  • Field Definition:  The date this image was entered into the database at EROS.

 

Coordinates - Degrees, Minutes, Seconds

  • Field Definition:  The latitude and longitude are provided in degrees, minutes, and seconds for the following fields:

          Values:

          Scene Center Latitude and Longitude

          UL_CORNER_LAT - Corner Latitude

          UL_CORNER_LON - Corner Longitude

          UR_CORNER_LAT - Corner Latitude

          UR_CORNER_LON - Corner Longitude

          LR_CORNER_LAT - Corner Latitude

          LR_CORNER_LON - Corner Longitude

          LL_CORNER_LAT - Corner Latitude

          LL_CORNER_LON - Corner Longitude

 

         Longitude Format:

         DDDMMSS.SSH

         DDD = Degree(s) with a range of 0 through 180

         MM = Minute(s) with a range of 0 through 59

         SS.SS = Second(s) with a range of 0 through 59.99

         H = Hemisphere with E for east and W for west

 

        Latitude Format:

        DDMMSS.SSH

        DD = Degree(s) with a range of 0 through 90

        MM = Minutes(s) with a range of 0 through 59

        SS.SS = Second(s) with a range of 0 through 59.99

        H = Hemisphere with N for north and S for south

 

Date Range Begin

  • Field Definition:  The first day of data acquisition.

 

Date Range End

  • Field Definition:  The last day of data acquisition.

 

Date Updated

  • Field Definition:  The date this image was updated in the database at EROS. A blank field indicates not yet updated.

 

Datum

  • Field Definition:  The horizontal reference system associated with the image.

 

Fill

  • Field Definition:  The percentage of tile with no data values.

 

Level-1 Collection

  • Field Definition:  Version of Level-1 Collection used in processing.

          Values:

          C01

     

Map Projection

  • Field Definition:  Geographic projection of the image.

          Values:

          AEA = Albers Equal Area

 

Satellite

  • Field Definition:  Specific Landsat vehicle number used to capture this acquisition.

          Values:

          4 = Landsat satellite #4

          5 = Landsat satellite #5

          7 = Landsat satellite #7

          8 = Landsat satellite #8

        

Scene Count

  • Field Definition:  The number of scenes used in the creation of tile.

 

Sensor Identifier

  • Field Definition:  This field is used to identify the sensor that acquired the original source data.

          Values:

          OLI/TIRS

          ETM+

          TM

 

Snow Ice

  • Field Definition:  The percentage of non-fill data in the tile covered by snow and/or ice.

 

Spacecraft Identifier

  • Field Definition:  Spacecraft from which the data was captured.

           Values:

           Landsat 1

           Landsat 2

           Landsat 3

           Landsat 4

           Landsat 5

           Landsat 7

           Landsat 8

 

Standing Request Date

  • Field Definition:  The date against which future Standing Request queries will run.

 

Tile Grid Horizontal

  • Field Definition:  Horizontal tile number associated with the 5000 x 5000 pixel tile grid within its region.

 

Tile Grid Region

  • Field Definition:  The region associated with the grid coverage area.

          Values:

          CU = CONUS

          AK = Alaska

          HI = Hawaii

 

Tile Grid Vertical

  • Field Definition:  Vertical tile number associated with the 5000 x 5000 pixel tile grid within its region.

 

Tile Identifier

  • Field Definition:  The unique identification of each tile.

    Burned Area
    The BA .tar packages “untar” (unzip) into two individual Georeferenced Tagged Image File Format (GeoTIFF; .tif) raster files with an XML (.xml) metadata file. The two raster files include maximum BP and BC.

    Dynamic Surface Water Extent
    The DSWE .tar packages “untar” (unzip) into six individual Georeferenced Tagged Image File Format (GeoTIFF) (.tif) raster files and an Extensible Markup Language (XML) (.xml) metadata file. The six raster files include a diagnostic layer, interpreted layer, mask layer, interpreted layer with the mask applied, hillshade, and percent slope.

    Fractional Snow Covered Area
    The fSCA .tar packages “untar” (unzip) into two individual Georeferenced Tagged Image File Format (GeoTIFF) (.tif) raster files and an .xml metadata file. The two raster files include a per-pixel snow cover fraction and a revised cloud mask.

Tile Production Date

  • Field Definition:  The creation date of the Landsat ARD tile product.

  • Field Definition:  The mapping units associated with tile.
