NASA SRTM3 SRTMGL3S Data Dictionary
The Data Dictionaries are a set of information describing the contents, format, and structure of elements for EarthExplorer products.
- Field Definition: The date the image was acquired.
Format:
YYYY/MM/DD
- Field Definition: The latitude and longitude are provided in decimal degrees for the following fields:
Values:
Scene Center Latitude and Longitude
Northeast (NE) Corner Latitude and Longitude
Northwest (NW) Corner Latitude and Longitude
Southeast (SE) Corner Latitude and Longitude
Southwest (SW) Corner Latitude and Longitude
Latitude Format Decimal Degrees: -90.000 through 90.000
Longitude Format Decimal Degrees: -180.000 through 180.000
Number of decimal places will vary by dataset – check collection in EE.
Coordinates Degrees, Minutes, Seconds
- Field Definition: The latitude and longitude are provided in degrees, minutes, and seconds for the following fields:
Values:
Scene Center Latitude and Longitude
Northeast (NE) Corner Latitude and Longitude
Northwest (NW) Corner Latitude and Longitude
Southeast (SE) Corner Latitude and Longitude
Southwest (SW) Corner Latitude and Longitude
Longitude Format:
DDDMMSS.SSH
DDD = Degree(s) with a range of 0 through 180
MM = Minute(s) with a range of 0 through 59
SS.SS = Second(s) with a range of 0 through 59.99
H = Hemisphere with E for east and W for west
Latitude Format:
DDMMSS.SSH
DD = Degree(s) with a range of 0 through 90
MM = Minutes(s) with a range of 0 through 59
SS.SS = Second(s) with a range of 0 through 59.99
H = Hemisphere with N for north and S for south
- Field Definition: The date the image was entered into the database.
Format:
YYYY/MM/DD
- Field Definition: The date the image was last updated.
Format:
YYYY/MM/DD
- Field Definition: Ending date of image series
Format:
YYYY/MM/DD
- Field Definition: This field uniquely identifies the granule id of the individual scene.
Example NASA SRTM3 SRTMGL3S Entity ID: N12E042.SRTMGL3S
N or S (N = North, S = South hemisphere)
Next two characters indicate lower left corner Latitude
E or W (E = East, W = West hemisphere)
Next three characters indicate lower left corner Longitude
SRTM = Data set designator
GL= Global
3 = Arc Second
S = Sub-sample
- Field Definition: The geographic reference system treats the globe as if it were a sphere divided into 360 equal parts called degrees. Each degree is subdivided into 60 minutes. Each minute is composed of 60 seconds. Said differently, an arc-second represents the distance of latitude or longitude traversed on the earth's surface while traveling one second (1/3600th of a degree).
- Field Definition: Beginning date of image series
Format:
YYYY/MM/DD
- Field Definition: Version number assigned to image
