GLSC Researchers Serve as Focus Area Representatives at GLRI Public Engagement Session in Detroit
Seeking public input in research priority planning
Mary Anne Evans and Alexandra “Sasha” Bozimowski (GLSC, Ann Arbor, Michigan) served as subject matter experts in a public engagement session hosted by the US Environmental Protection Agency on August 15, 2023, at the Michigan Department of Natural Resources Outdoor Adventure Center in Detroit, Michigan. The public engagement session focused on seeking input for the Great Lakes Restoration Initiative (GLRI) Action Plan IV, which would guide restoration and protection priorities in the Great Lakes region from 2025-2029. Members of the public, local conservation groups, state, and federal agencies, as well as US Representative Debbie Dingell (MI-06) attended the event, which began with local success stories from ongoing GLRI-funded projects and led into a poster stroll where each GLRI priority was represented as a stop for attendees to learn more and offer comments.
