Statistics and information on the mining industry in Thailand.

Overview

In 2024, Thailand was estimated to be the world’s sixth-ranked producer of feldspar, accounting for 6.1% of global production, and the seventh-ranked producer of mined gypsum, accounting for 5.4%. The country’s other major mineral products included fluorspar. Thailand presumably mined monazite (a primary rare-earth mineral).

The mining and quarrying sector and the manufacturing sector contributed 1.6% and 24% to the GDP, respectively. The legislative framework for the mineral sector in Thailand is provided by the Minerals Act, B.E. 2510 (1967), as amended in 2002 and 2017. The Department of Primary Industries and Mines within the Ministry of Industry oversees the mineral industry. Most of the nonfuel mineral mining and mineral-processing companies were privately owned and operated.
