Staff from the U.S. Geological Survey, Lower Brule Sioux Tribe Environmental Protection Office, and Oglala Lakota College set up equipment in preparation for use of Ground-based Light Detection and Ranging (LiDAR). On Feb. 28-March 1, 2011, LiDAR was used to scan exposed banks as part of the Missouri River bank erosion study on the Lower Brule Reservation.
