Imperiled Species

Changes in the Great Lakes ecosystems have imperiled some the region’s native plant and animal species that often carry significant cultural value in the region. The GLSC studies the biology, genetics, ecology, and population dynamics of several species imperiled in the Great Lakes, such as lake trout, lake sturgeon, cisco, bloater, burbot, lake whitefish, walleye, Mysis, and Pitcher’s thistle.
