Water Quality Assessment of the Trinity River Basin, Texas - Pesticides in a Suburban Watershed, Arlington, 1993-94
The Trinity River Basin was among the first 20 hydrologic systems under full inplementation of the National Water Quality Assessment (NAWQA) Program. Planning and analysis of existing information began in 1991. Intensive water-quality data collection began in 1993. As a part of the NAWQA Program, pesticide samples were taken from surface water, ground water, streambed sediment, and aquatic-organis

Organic compounds downstream from a treated-wastewater discharge near Dallas, Texas, March 1987
Water and streambed-sediment samples were collected on March 9 and 10,1987 from one site upstream and three sites downstream of the discharge from a municipal wastewater-treatment plant on Rowlett Creek near Dallas, Texas. To extract and separate organic compounds, purgeand-trap, closed-loop stripping, and pH-adjusted solvent extraction methods were used for water samples; and a Soxhlet-solvent ex

United States Geological Survey, programs in Texas
Meteorologic and physiographic factors in parts of Texas combine to produce some of the most intense rainstorms in the Nation; these rainstorms cause severe, destructive floods somewhere in the State almost every year. A recent example is the catastrophic flooding in the Houston area in October 1994 that resulted in at least 22 deaths, hundreds of millions of dollars in property damage, and substa

Simulation of ground-water flow and the movement of saline water in the Hueco Bolson aquifer, El Paso, Texas, and adjacent areas
The Hueco bolson aquifer is being pumped at increasing rates to supply water for El Paso, Texas, and Ciudad Juarez, Mexico. Water-use projections for 1984-2000 indicate that the upward trend in pumping rates probably will continue, which will put an increasing burden on the limited freshwater resources of the aquifer. Near El Paso, saline water in the Rio Grande alluvium overlies freshwater in bol
