Comparative demography of sea otter populations

Population trends are poorly documented and demographic information is typically lacking for many carnivorous mammals. The sea otter (Enhydru lutris) has a well known history of decline and recovery, and while many other species have declined as precipitously, few have recovered so spectacularly. Generally speaking, northern populations (remnants within the range of E. l. lutris and E. l. kenyoni)

We combined broad-scale field sampling with historical analyses of museum records to quantify amphibian declines in California’s Great Central Valley. Overall, amphibians showed an unambiguous pattern of decline, although the intensity of decline varied both geographically and taxonomically. The greatest geo

A comparative analysis of clinging ability among pad-bearing lizards

We examined clinging ability, subdigital pad area and body mass in 14 pad-bearing lizard species from three families to test three predictions: (1) clinging ability and pad area should be tightly correlated among species; (2) pad area and clinging ability should scale similarly to body mass among 14 species; and (3) functional similarity in clinging capabilities should exist among species despite
