Incorporating Climate and Environmental Justice into Research and Resource Management: Climate & Environmental Justice at the National Scale

In partnership with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service National Conservation Training Center, the National CASC presents a webinar series on the intersection between climate and environmental justice and environmental research.

Our speakers explore the ethics around engaging with the populations most vulnerable to the impacts of environmental and climate change, which are often low-income communities, communities of color, Indigenous and Tribal communities, and people facing disenfranchisement.

Keely Maxwell is a General Anthropologist with EPA’s Center for Environmental Solutions and Emergency Response. An environmental anthropologist and ecologist by training, Keely first came to EPA as a AAAS Science & Technology Policy Fellow. Dr. Maxwell leads several research projects, including community resilience to disasters, the social dynamics of environmental cleanups, and the safe remediation of flooded homes website.

Emily Eisenhauer is a sociologist with EPA and works on community resilience, social vulnerability, and environmental justice. Emily is also the co-chair of the U.S. Global Change Research Program's Social Sciences Coordinating Committee, working on integrating social sciences more fully in the National Climate Assessment.

Aranzazu Lascurain is the Southeast and Caribbean Regional Lead for NOAA’s Office of Coastal Management where she manages partnerships and develops engagement opportunities. She has many years of experience working with under-resourced Indigenous communities.

Natasha DeJarnett is with the White House in the Council for Environmental Quality, where she serves as Deputy Director of Environmental Justice Data and Evaluation.

Kameron Kerger is the Deputy Director for EJ Digital Services Deliver with the White House Council for Environemtal Quality.

Nick Thorpe is the Policy Advisor for Environmental Justice with the White House Council for Environmental Quality.
