Detailed Description

The Urban Climate Adaptation Virtual Symposium, a showcase of climate adaptation strategies and partnerships in urban and suburban ecosystems with an emphasis on environmental justice needs and collaborations, was held on April 4, 2024. 

The presenters for this session are:

Tanja Crk, who has worked for the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency for nearly sixteen years in regulatory and voluntary programs including water quality standards implementation and the ENERGY STAR® program.

Shawn Fisher, a hydrologist with the USGS New York Water Science Center. Shawn has been working with community organizations, along with Federal, State, and City partners, in the Bronx and Harlem River watersheds through the Urban Waters Federal Partnership to provide water-resource data in support of ongoing and planned projects meant to improve water and environmental quality. He also co-leads the Northeast Region Urban Landscapes Capability Team (ULCT).

Chantel Jimenez, the SoCal Urban Wildlife Refuge Project Coordinator at the San Diego National Wildlife Refuge Complex. She attended Oregon State University and received a Bachelor of Science in Fisheries and Wildlife and a Maters in Forestry. Her career with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service started as a SCEP student at the Willamette Valley National Wildlife Refuge Complex.
