Data Releases

The data collected and the techniques used by USGS scientists should conform to or reference national and international standards and protocols if they exist and when they are relevant and appropriate. For datasets of a given type, and if national or international metadata standards exist, the data are indexed with metadata that facilitates access and integration.

EAARL-B Submerged Topography-Crocker Reef, Florida, 2014

These datasets provide lidar-derived topography for a portion of the submerged environs of Crocker Reef, Florida. Elevation measurements were acquired on April 13 and 22, 2014 by the second-generation Experimental Advanced Airborne Research Lidar (EAARL-B). The authors acknowledge Emily Klipp, Richard Mitchell, Karen Morgan, Chris Pali, Virgil Rabine, Rudy Troche, and Wayne Wright for planning ef

Multi-species Coral Sr/Ca Based Sea-Surface Temperature Reconstruction Data Using Orbicella faveolata and Siderastrea siderea from Dry Tortugas National Park, Florida

New sub annual and mean annual Sr/Ca records from two species of massive coral, Orbicella faveolata (coral B3) and Siderastrea siderea (coral CG2), from the Dry Tortugas National Park, FL (DRTO). Both corals have well-constrained chronologies, with coral B3 ranging from 1893-2008 and coral CG2 ranging from 1837-2012. We combine these new records with published Sr/Ca data from three additional S. s

ATRIS Seafloor Images-Crocker Reef, Florida, 2014

Underwater digital images, single-beam bathymetry, and global positioning system (GPS) data were collected June 24-25, 2014 within a 1-km x 1-km area around Crocker Reef in the Florida Keys, USA. A total of 91,206 images of the seafloor and water column were collected along pre-defined transect lines and organized into 3 sets: track1, track2, and track3. This data release contains a subset of thos

Miscellaneous flow discharge measurements collected downstream of Brandon Road Lock and Dam

Flow discharges were measured in the Des Plaines River from approximately river mile 286 to river mile 284 on October 1921, 2015 using Teledyne Rio Grande 1200 kHz acoustic Doppler current profilers (ADCP). The data were georeferenced with differential GPS receivers with submeter accuracy. These flow discharge measurements were collected in support of the US Army Corps of Engineers Great Lakes and

Liquefaction observations from ten earthquakes in the US, Japan, China, and Taiwan

These data include observations of liquefaction from ten earthquakes. The data are provided as a feature collection in a GeoJSON file format. Individual features are either points or polygons. Each feature has a single attribute called "earthquake" which gives the name and year of the earthquake associated with the liquefaction feature.

Coral cores collected in Dry Tortugas National Park, Florida, U.S.A.: Photographs and X-rays

Cores from living coral colonies were collected from Dry Tortugas National Park, Florida, to obtain skeletal records of past coral growth and allow geochemical reconstruction of environmental variables during the corals' centuries-long lifespans. The samples were collected as part of the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) Coral Reef Ecosystems Studies project that provides science to assist resource ma

Groundwater Quality Data from the National Water Quality Assessment Project, May 2012 through December 2013

Groundwater-quality data were collected from 748 wells as part of the National Water-Quality Assessment Project of the U.S. Geological Survey National Water-Quality Program from May 2012 through December 2013. The data were collected from four types of well networks: principal aquifer study networks, which assess the quality of groundwater used for public water supply; land-use study networks, whi

Avian Point Count, Habitat, and Covariate Data for Subarctic Bird Abundance, Seward Peninsula, Alaska, 2012-2014

This data package contains three tables: avian counts by species, habitat type, a covariate information used for analysis of bird surveys conducted between 2012 and 2014 on the Seward Peninsula, Alaska, as part of the USGS Changing Arctic Ecosystems Initiative. We conducted 1,208 point counts on 12 study blocks from 2012-2014 in northwestern Alaska, using repeated surveys to account for imperfect

Mortality factors for dead trees from a subset of plots from the Sierra Nevada Forest Dynamics Plot Network from 1998 to 2010

This dataset was used to summarize and analyze the mortality factors recorded on dead trees in the Sierra Nevada Forest Dynamics Plot Network, which is managed by the Sequoia and Kings Canyon Field station of the U.S. Geological Survey's Western Ecological Research Center. Each row of the dataset represents an individual dead tree. These are dead trees that were recorded in the network from 1998 t

Fatty acid signature data of potential yellow-billed loon prey in the Arctic coastal plain of Alaska, 2009-2011

This dataset contains fatty acid data expressed as mass percent of total fatty acids for several species potentially preyed upon by yellow-billed loons. These data were utilized in a quantitative fatty acid signature analysis to estimate the diet of yellow-billed loons nesting on the Arctic Coastal Plain of Alaska (Haynes et al. 2015).

Mineral commodity exporting ports of Latin America and the Caribbean

This dataset presents information about mineral commodity exporting ports relating to the mineral industries of Latin America and the Caribbean. Port data records were originally derived from the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency's World Port Index, with additional research conducted by the Material Flow Analysis section of the U.S. Geological Survey's (USGS) National Minerals Information Ce

Mineral exploration sites of Latin America and the Caribbean

This dataset presents information about exploration sites relating to the mineral industries of Latin America and the Caribbean. Exploration sites include sites in active exploration status, sites with feasibility work being performed or planned, exploration at a producing mine for a mine expansion, or sites that are approved for or under development but not yet at the producing stage.
