Data Releases

The data collected and the techniques used by USGS scientists should conform to or reference national and international standards and protocols if they exist and when they are relevant and appropriate. For datasets of a given type, and if national or international metadata standards exist, the data are indexed with metadata that facilitates access and integration.

Hydrodynamic and sediment transport data from San Pablo Bay and China Camp marsh (northern San Francisco Bay), 2013-2016

The U.S. Geological Survey Pacific Coastal and Marine Science Center collected data to investigate sediment dynamics in the shallows of San Pablo Bay and sediment exchange between bay shallows and the tidal salt marsh in China Camp State Park in a series of deployments between December 2013 and June 2016. This data release includes two related groups of data sets. The first group, denoted by names

Beach topography and nearshore bathymetry of northern Monterey Bay, California

This data release presents beach topography and nearshore bathymetry data from repeated surveys in northern Monterey Bay, California to document changes in shoreline position and coastal morphology as they relate to episodic (storms), seasonal, and interannual and longer (e.g. El Ni?o) processes. The ongoing monitoring program was initiated in October 2014 with semi-annual surveys performed in lat

Soil-Water-Balance model data sets for the St. Louis River drainage basin, northeast Minnesota, 1995-2010

A soil-water balance model (SWB) was developed to estimate potential recharge and surface runoff for portions of the St. Louis River drainage basin, northeast Minnesota, for the period 1995 through 2010. The model was used in the creation of St. Louis River streamflow distribution maps, as part of the associated report, U.S. Geological Survey Scientific Investigations Map 2017-3390 (http://dx.doi.

Soil-Water-Balance model data sets for the Cannon River drainage basin, southeast Minnesota, 1995-2010

A soil-water balance model (SWB) was developed to estimate potential recharge and surface runoff for portions of the Cannon River drainage basin, southeast Minnesota, for the period 1995 through 2010. The model was used in the creation of Cannon River streamflow distribution maps, as part of the associated report, U.S. Geological Survey Scientific Investigations Map 2017-3390 (http://dx.doi.org/10

Data sets for: Variations on a method for evaluating decadal-scale changes in the groundwater quality of two GAMA coastal study units 2004-2014, California GAMA Priority Basin Project

The U.S. Geological Survey collected samples from 50 public supply wells during two distinct sampling episodes (2004-2005 and 2014) on the North-Central California coast. During each sampling episode, the samples were analyzed for 160 water-quality constituents, including water-quality indicators, nutrients, major and minor ions, trace elements, volatile organic compounds, and pesticide compounds.

Regional Water Table (2016) in the Mojave River and Morongo Groundwater Basins, Southwestern Mojave Desert, California

During spring 2016, the U.S. Geological Survey and other agencies made water-level measurements in the Mojave River and Morongo groundwater basins. These data document recent conditions and, when compared with previous data, changes in groundwater levels. A water-level contour map was drawn using data from about 646 wells, providing coverage for most of the basins. In addition, a water-level-chang

Geochemistry of Sediment and Associated Leachates from Samples near the Old Yuma Mine, AZ

This data set includes analysis of 38 sediment samples collected near the Old Yuma Mine. The sediment samples were collected from tailings, waste rock, stream sediment, and background locations. All samples were analyzed by a total digestion method, some by the USEPA 3050 method, and some were leached by the USEPA 1312 method.

Marine Bird and Mammal Survey Data from Kachemak Bay, Katmai National Park and Preserve, and Kenai Fjords National Park

These data are part of the Gulf Watch Alaska (GWA) long term monitoring program, nearshore monitoring component. The dataset is a series of comma separated files exported from a survey software program (DLog, Ford Consulting, Portland, OR). The data consists of date, time, latitude, longitude, species abbreviation, count, and behavior. Each year the observers attempt to sample the same set of tra

Geochemical Database for Iron Oxide-Copper-Cobalt-Gold-Rare Earth Element Deposits of Southeast Missouri, 2016-2017

The Geochemical and geologic database for Mesoproterozoic igneous rocks and iron oxide-apatite-rare earth element (IOA-REE) and iron oxide-copper-cobalt-gold (IOCG) deposits of Southeast Missouri, 2016-2017 'Geochemical Database for Iron Oxide-Copper-Cobalt-Gold-Rare Earth Element Deposits of Southeast Missouri, 2016-2017' (MO_ROCK_IOCG_REE_GX2017) contains new geochemical data compilations for sa

Big Island Mining (AT-03): 2016 habitat classification

The Louisiana State Legislature created Coastal Wetlands Planning, Protection, and Restoration Act (CWPPRA) in order to conserve, restore, create and enhance Louisiana's coastal wetlands. The wetland restoration plans developed persuant to these acts specifically require an evaluation of the effectiveness of each coastal wetlands restoration project in achieving long-term solutions to arresting co

Stream temperature and drying data from Willow/Whitehorse watersheds, southeast Oregon, 2014-16, and Willow/Rock/Frazer watersheds, northern Nevada, 2015-2016

These tabular, spatial, and code data sets were created in support of a stream temperature and drying study that took place in the Willow and Whitehorse watersheds of southeastern Oregon from 2014-2016 and the Willow, Rock, and Frazer watersheds of northern Nevada from 2015-2016. A prior data release of stream temperature data and associated spatial data from the Willow and Whitehorse watersheds o

Benthic pore water and sediment data Barnegat Bay, New Jersey, 2012-2013

This data set presents pore water nutrient concentrations and sediment oxygen demand (SOD) measurements made at 12 locations around the margin of Barnegat Bay and at 3 locations in central Barnegat Bay. The data were collected during 2012-2013 for the Barnegat Bay Nutrient Study in cooperation with the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection. Table 1 presents the site data including site
