Data Releases
The data collected and the techniques used by USGS scientists should conform to or reference national and international standards and protocols if they exist and when they are relevant and appropriate. For datasets of a given type, and if national or international metadata standards exist, the data are indexed with metadata that facilitates access and integration.

Specific conductance and other groundwater quality data, Siskiyou Pass area, southwestern Oregon, 2018 to 2021
Specific conductance (SC), estimated chloride (Cl), and other major ion data sets used in an analysis of the extent to which deicer applications affect groundwater quality in the Siskiyou Pass area, southwestern Oregon, 2018 to 2021. The analysis is documented in the following publication: Gingerich, S.B., Wise, D.R., and Stonewall, A.J., 2023, Assessing the effects of chloride deicer applications
Sediment Volume and Bedrock of the Similkameen River Above Enloe Dam Near Oroville, Washington
This data release contains 3-meter gridded rasters of depth to bedrock below bathymetric surface, the thickness of unconsolidated sediment, and the volume of unconsolidated sediment within a 2.6-km reach of the Similkameen River, Okanogan County, Washington, impounded by Enloe Dam. These rasters were calculated from continuous resistivity profiles (CRP) surveyed using a SuperSting R8 8-channel res
Continuous resistivity profiling (CRP) in the Similkameen River above Enloe Dam, Okanogan County, Washington
A continuous resistivity profiling (CRP) survey was conducted in a 1.2-mile reach of the Similkameen River upstream of Enloe Dam in December 2021 in Washington State. The survey was performed to characterize the resistivity of the water column and subbottom materials using the CRP method. The survey consisted of eight longitudinal profiles roughly equivalent in length and conducted in the right, l
Data Describing Site Characteristics Including Conifer Regeneration Following the 2018 Carr Fire in Whiskeytown National Recreation Area
This dataset provides seedling density and site characteristics for 131 plots in Whiskeytown National Recreation Area in California, USA. Site characteristics include modeled seed availability and terrain indices calculated using a 1 meter resolution digital elevation model (DEM).
Photogrammetry-derived digital elevation models and source images for an inactive perched lava lake formed at Pu‘u‘ō‘ō (Kīlauea) in 2014
Lava flow hazards are usually thought to end when the erupting vent becomes inactive, but this is not always the case. At Kīlauea in August 2014, a spiny ʻaʻā flow erupted from the levee of a crusted perched lava lake that had been inactive for a month, and the surface of the lava lake subsided as the flow advanced downslope over the following few days. Topography constructed from oblique aerial p
Drainage Areas for Stream Segments in Western San Diego County
Drainage areas (or watersheds) were calculated for each stream segment in the National Hydrography Dataset High Resolution Plus Beta (NHD HR Plus Beta) using non-end junction points and the provided hydrologically enforced Digital Elevation Model (DEM). The DEM was used to create a flow direction raster. The pour points used were determined from junction points at each stream intersection excludin
Age ratios and landscape change covariates for mule deer (Odocoileus hemionus) herd units in Wyoming, USA, 1985-2019
Sagebrush ecosystems and wildlife that depend on them are under pressure from development, changing climate, as well as natural and human-caused disturbance. Mule deer (Odocoileus hemionus) are of particular concern due to population declines across many western states. We initiated a study to evaluate landscape-level changes ( disturbances, habitat treatments, development, and climate change) in
Sediment deposition and accretion data from a tidal salt marsh in South San Francisco Bay, California 2021-2022
The U.S. Geological Survey, Western Ecological Research Center collected sediment and accretion data at a wave-exposed tidal salt marsh in South San Francisco Bay, California. Sediment traps and feldspar marker horizons (MH) were deployed along transects of increasing distance from the sediment source, at primary, secondary and tertiary marsh channels/bay. Data were collected bi-monthly over two m
Relative distance of California's Central Valley from trough to valley edge and supporting data
California's Central Valley ranges from the mountain fronts toward a central trough, mainly defined by the San Joaquin and Sacramento Rivers, and the relative distance from trough to valley edges is of interest. This data release provides supplemental data for the USGS Professional Paper 1766, titled Groundwater Availability of the Central Valley Aquifer, California and provides geographic informa
Geochemical Data for Coal Wastes from Bituminous Coal Mining in Pennsylvania, 2022
Coal and coal byproducts may be economically important resources if enriched in critical minerals such as rare earth elements. The organic carbon they contain could be converted to gas using stimulated microbial methanogenesis. In this study, samples were collected from two underground mine sites in the bituminous region of southwest Pennsylvania to assess the potential for these uses from differe
Organic Compounds Identified via Gas Chromatography-Mass Spectrometry in Produced Water Samples Collected at the Marcellus Shale Energy and Environment Laboratory (MSEEL) 2015-2019, Morgantown Industrial Park (MIP), West Virginia
The Marcellus Shale Energy and Environmental Laboratory (MSEEL) field site in Morgantown, WV was established by West Virginia University in order to increase understanding of factors that affect resource recovery and environmental impacts from unconventional oil and gas development. The site, which is located in the Morgantown Industrial Park (MIP) adjacent to the Monongahela River, includes one w
Bathymetry, backscatter intensity, and benthic habitat offshore of the Eel River, California
Survey data collected for this data release were used to create maps of surficial geology and benthic habitat as part of the USGS California Seafloor Mapping Program, a collaboration with California State University Monterey Bay (CSUMB) and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA). Funding was provided by the California Ocean Protection Council. These data are intended to provide
