Reconnaissance geochemical and mineralogical sampling was done in the Sierra Ancha Wilderness and Salome Study Area during April and May 1978. This map shows the distribution of chalcopyrite, florite, galena, scheelite, and lead-rich iron oxides in the nonmagnetic fraction of the heavy-mineral concentrate of stream sediment samples collected during the reconnaissance study.

The Elko crater field consists of two arrays of rimmed craters in the valleys of Dorsey, Susie, and McClellan Creeks, 30 to 50 km north of Elko, Nevada. Coal of low-volatile to high-volatile A bituminous rank is the principal developed mineral resource in the Jewell Ridge quadrangle.  The coal beds in the Jewell Ridge quadrangle contain total estimated original resources of 1,519 million tons.  Of this total, 108 million tons have been mined or lost in mining, leaving 1,411 million tons of remaining resources.  Table 1 lists coal resource estimate
