Angus Vaughan

I am a hydrologist and geomorphologist at UMESC and a member of the River and Coastal Processes team of the Upper Midwest Water Science Center. My research incorporates high-resolution 3D mapping and geospatial analysis to understand patterns in river form and geomorphic processes.

My current projects include:

  • Hydrogeomorphic mapping in the Upper Mississippi River to predict sensitivity to geomorphic change in different settings within the river system.
  • Topobathymetric mapping and geomorphic analysis to inform dam removal and restoration projects in the Kalamazoo River, Michigan.
  • Kakagon/Mashkiiziibii River Estuary (Wisconsin) mapping and geomorphic change detection to understand how extreme events, high water levels, and episodic changes in sedimentation and erosion affect habitat.
