Jason M Fine

​​Jason Fine is a hydrologist for the Hydrologic Networks Branch for the USGS Water Resources Mission Area.​ 

​​Jason graduated from East Carolina University in 1994 with a bachelor's degree in geology. He began working with the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) in 1995 as a contract employee, assessing the groundwater resources of North Carolina’s military bases. In 1997, Jason was hired as a USGS hydrologic technician and was converted to a hydrologist 7 years later.  

​During his career with the USGS he has focused on groundwater and surface-water studies and data collection efforts, mostly in the Coastal Plain region of North and South Carolina. Jason has also managed many investigation projects focusing on hydrogeologic frameworks, water-quality assessments, and groundwater availability, as well as being the North Carolina Data Chief from 2018-2022. 

​In 2022, Jason became the USGS National Ground Water Networks Coordinator, where he leads the National Groundwater Monitoring Network and the Climate Response Network. Jason has done many details throughout his career and has authored or co-authored numerous USGS publications.
