January 9, 2017 – Landsat Science Team: 2016 Summer Meeting Summary

The Landsat Science Team held their 2016 summer meeting at South Dakota State University in Brookings, South Dakota. 

The main objectives were to provide Landsat 7 and 8 status updates, review team member research activities, and to begin identifying priorities for future Landsat missions. A summary of this meeting was recently published by NASA in The Earth Observer.  

The next LST meeting takes place January 10-12, 2017, at Boston University, where one of their primary objectives will be to focus on future Landsat capabilities, such as, Landsat Continuity/Backward Compatibility, Temporal Frequency Improvements, Spatial Resolution/Geometric Improvements, Radiometric Resolution and SNR Improvements, and new spectral bands. 

They will also receive updates on Landsat 9 development and the status of USGS Landsat product initiatives, specifically Collections and Analysis Ready Data.

LST presentations will be made available on the Landsat Science Team webpage at the culmination of the meeting.
