Detailed Description

Although famous for its petroleum resources, not all of the North Slope of Alaska is rich with oil, according to the latest USGS assessment of conventional resources for rock formations located west of the National Petroleum Reserve-Alaska.

Mean estimate of undiscovered, technically recoverable conventional natural gas resources in the Western North Slope region.

No estimate for oil was provided because the rock formations that were assessed did not have the right conditions to retain much oil.
