Detailed Description
Trends in several algal functional groups over time inferred by pigment analyses. The fitted trend lines are depicted with 95% confidence intervals for all major algal pigments in The Loch and Sky Pond time series. Pheophytin a (a) is a proxy for total algal biomass. Lutein and zeaxanthin (b) are indicative of both chlorophytes and cyanobacteria. Diatoxanthin (c) is a proxy for total diatom biomass. Canthaxanthin (d) is a proxy for various Nostocales cyanobacteria, which was representative of other cyanobacteria pigments analyzed in this study. (From Figure 2 in Oleksy et al., 2020).
