Areas of landcover change in North America

Detailed Description

Landcover types from the World Terrestrial Ecosystems (WTE) 2020 dataset (Sayre, 2022). Our research study areas include regions of North America where boreal forest transitions to tundra (purple ovals, dotted lines), the mid-continent region where grassland transitions to forest (orange oval, solid line), and the mountain regions of the western United States (orange oval, dashed line). Landcover types included on the WTE map are Cropland, Forest, Grassland, Settlement, Shrubland, Snow and Ice, and Sparsely or Non-vegetated (Sayre, 2022).
