Asian Tiger Mosquito (Aedes albopictus)

Detailed Description
This image depicts a very close, left lateral view of the head region, of an Aedes albopictus mosquito, which had landed on the photographer, and was pictured, as she was in the process of ingesting her blood meal through the host’s skin surface. You’re able to also see how her abdomen had taken on a red coloration, due to its growing contents of host blood. Under successful experimental transmission, A. albopictus has been found to be a vector of West Nile Virus.
