The Central Virginia Seismic Zone. The M = 5.8 earthquake in the Central Virginia seismic zone has a fault plane solution indicating reverse motion on an ESE-dipping plane consistent with aftershocks. Epicenters since 1973 (red circles) and notable historic epicenters.
