Charles Baskerville

Detailed Description

Charles was born on August 19, 1928 in Jamaica, Queens, NYC. His parents were from Virginia. He is an Alumnus of the City College of NY (CCNY) and held a PhD in Geology from NYU, that he received in 1965. He was an engineering geologist who was the foremost expert on the bedrock geology of New York City, which he spent more than 50 years of his life studying. He completed four quadrangles as a result of his work, and was a USGS scientist from 1979 to 1990. He was a professor at Central Connecticut State University (CCSU) from 1990 until his retirement in 2006. He passed away in 2009.
