The ecosystem type determines how mercury arrives and how quickly ecosystems recover

Detailed Description

The ecosystem type determines how mercury arrives and how quickly ecosystems recover. In forested areas, gaseous mercury adheres to leaves before entering the ground. These areas experience quicker ecosystem recovery. In drier regions, mercury is primarily deposited through rain and snow. These areas experience slower recovery and surprisingly high mercury levels in desert ecosystems.
