Detailed Description
An interactive slider map depicting the change in urban (yellow) and non-urban (purple) streamgages, and the growth of urban extent, between 1967 and 2018 in north-central Georgia.
This animation is part of the interactive Gages Through The Ages data visualization story, which presents a visual history of 130 years of USGS streamgaging. It also describes how USGS streamgages have supported our Nation’s changing needs and priorities, such as a shifting focus from hydropower support to urban flood management, and technological advances in data transmission and remote monitoring that allowed for real-time data availability and dissemination.
