HiRISE Image of Curiosity Mars Rover Traverse Area in Gale Crater
Detailed Description
This image from the High Resolution Imaging Science Experiment (HiRISE) shows a portion of the mountain of layered rocks in Gale crater that is being explored by the Curiosity Mars rover. Colors in the image are not what human eyes would see, they are "false color" based on infrared, red, and blue images. This is one of many data HiRISE images released by the USGS as Analysis-Ready Data.
