Landscape change in Lamar Valley, Yellowstone National Park, detected by lidar

Detailed Description
3D renderings of elevation change between August 2007 and October 2020 along the Lamar River in the northeast part of Yellowstone National Park. Red regions represent >1 m (3 ft) of elevation loss, yellow indicates no change, and blue represents >1 m (3 ft) of elevation gain. The top image shows a prehistoric landslide with a downslope end that is continuing to creep toward the river. The lower image from the Lamar Valley shows regions of erosion (red) and deposition (blue) in the riverbed and banks as it migrates across the valley bottom.
