Las Vegas, 1999

This Landsat 7 image of the Las Vegas area, acquired on July 4, 1999, is the first image captured of this region by the satellite. The image prominently features the city of Las Vegas. It also shows Lake Mead, the largest reservoir in the United States, along with the surrounding desert landscape. The image is displayed using the shortwave infrared (SWIR), near-infrared (NIR), and red bands, which help to highlight the differences between vegetation, water bodies, and urban areas.
