Lithium (Li) brine and clay conceptual model showing lithium pathway from the source (lithium-rich magma chamber) through release through volcanic activity to caldera lake sediments, geothermal fluid flow driven circulation and leaching to temporary basin with Li clay, then to terminal basins with Li brine and clay.
Project Name: Li from Source to Sink: Genesis and evolution of Li brines and clays
Purpose: We will evaluate the Great Basin and surrounding regions for the components of the Li brine and clay model by attempting to trace the Li pathway from source to sink, then use this information to improve our estimates of known Li resources in brines and clays. in year 5 we will conduct an assessment for undiscovered Li resources.
