Detailed Description
Li Source to Sink: Project Study Area
The study area was chosen using HUC 8 watershed boundaries, to encompass areas known to have Li and B clays, sediments, and brines.
Specific study areas include:
- The McDermitt Caldera
- Clayton Valley and surrounding basins, including the South Borate Hills, a B and Li resource
- The Owens River drainage basin including Searles Lake, know to have a Li-bearing brine
- Li and B deposits in the Mojave Desert
- The Salton Sea with Li-bearing geothermal brines
