Northern Hemisphere correlation maps

Detailed Description
Figure 1: Northern Hemisphere correlation maps between winter precipitation and (a) ENSO and (b) PDO climate regimes. The Gulf of Alaska margin is sensitive to both cycles, and also shows a strong teleconnection via the Pacific North America pattern (Wallace and Gutzler, 1981) to the US Southwest and Southeast regions. The ultraahigh-resolution marine sediment record preserved in cores EW0404-33JC and -44JC are thus critical archives for describing past climate change and forecasting impacts across the Northern Hemisphere.
