Oblique aerial photographs of Buxton, North Carolina

Detailed Description

Oblique aerial photographs of Buxton, North Carolina. View looking west along the North Carolina shore. Beach erosion moved the shoreline landward, reaching the houses built on the beach. Sand in the roads (which was present in the pre-storm photo, taken shortly after hurricane Irene in 2011), indicates overwash. In the foreground, a sand bar is exposed near the shoreline, indicating sand moving back onto the beach. The yellow arrow in each image points to the same feature.
