Detailed Description

A Kīlauea summit monitoring overflight the morning of October 28 provided this view of Halema‘uma‘u crater floor, which slowly rises with the continuing eruption. The active lava lake is visible in the upper right portion of the image. Measurements from the overflight indicated that the crater floor has risen a total rise of about 143 meters (469 feet), and that 111 million cubic meters (29.2 billion gallons) of lava had been effused since the beginning of this eruption on September 29, 2021.
