Looking rather Roman | Phoenician is the humble Onthophahus hecate Scarab Beetle of unknown species from Charles County Maryland. The photograph is taken by Betsy Bangert and Mike Burchett a pair of bug heads if there ever was one. USGSBIML Photoshopping Technique: Note that we now have added using the burn tool at 50% opacity set to shadows to clean up the halos that bleed into the black background from "hot" color sections of the picture.
