Perspective view of the Colorado Plateau
Detailed Description
Perspective view of the Colorado Plateau looking from above to the northwest. Image shows a part J.C. Reed’s (2004) Geologic Map of North America, showing late Paleozoic and Mesozoic sedimentary rocks of the Colorado Plateau in light purple to various green colors; sediment-filled basins in the southern Great Basin to the west appear in yellow in the upper part of the image. Oil and gas exploration holes are shown as thin cylinders; subsurface stratigraphic units intercepted in the boreholes are shown in various colors. Boreholes are positioned above the map for visibility but portray geologic units that occur in subsurface below the level of the map.
