(A) A mass composed of a segment of the small intestine, which is torturous and massively enlarged, is present in the coelom (arrow). (B) A transverse section of the enlarged segment with many large white worms filling the lumen, surrounded by necrotic debris. (C) An area of acute necrosis (suspect parasitic migration tract) within the lumen of the small intestine is surrounded by chronic, organized necrotic material. H&E stain. (D) A section of proximal duodenum contains large numbers of nematode parasites. Note the coelomyarian musculature (aterisk), the large intestine (i), and the thick-shelled eggs (arrow), typical of Porrocaecum sp. H&E stain.
