Detailed Description
Serpentinite, an ultramafic rock, is found near a shallow laterite profile in Northern California. These laterites have elevated Co, Cr, and Ni. Arctostaphylos spp, or manzanita shrubs, shown in the upper right can grown on nutrient-poor ultramafic soils.
