USGS EROS Interns Study Fire in Black Hills National Forest
Detailed Description
Grace Parrott measures fuelbed height along the transect marking a study plot in Black Hills National Forest. The measuring pole is marked with meters and centimeters to make it easier to record height. Parrott was taking part in a summer-long internship with USGS Earth Resources Observation and Science (EROS) Fire Science, studying fire severity and comparing traditional field measurements with lidar scans. She now works full time at EROS.
