USGS Streamgage 1174500 East Branch Swife Near Hardwick, MA . 

The stream flows into the Quabbin Reservoir, which is one of the major sources of water supply for Boston. Monitoring began in January 1937, with no breaks in the record. I don't know if you could tell in the picture, but the precipitation gage is visible in the picture, as the white thing on a pole (I know, real scientific). Stephen King's novel Dreamcatcher takes place in the area, and in the film, it was shot on location (some of it) and the gage can be seen in one of the shots. Kinda cool, but don't blink or you will miss it.

This gage is monitored in cooperation with the Massachusetts Department of Conservation and Recreation, Division of Water Supply Protection, Office of Watershed Management, with funding from the Massachusetts Water Resources Authority .
