White Ibis and Wood Stork Perched on a Tree Island in the Everglades

Detailed Description
White Ibis and Wood Stork are Everglades wading birds that rely on prey items such as small fish and crayfish that concentrate in shallow pools as water levels decrease throughout the dry season. A dry season following several wet years can set off a boom in the number of wading bird prey and subsequently, young wading birds that add to the population.
