Detailed Description

Permanent Site: F2 West Transect; Depth: 11.8 Meters (38.6 Feet); Distance from river mouth: 1.5 Kilometers (0.9 Miles) east; Pre/Post Dam Removal: 3 years post-dam removal; Lat/Long: 48.15672004,-123.55036603; Site Description: Substrate is mainly a gravel - cobble mixture with an occasional boulder. Some seaweed has returned. Larger reds are present (0:43, 0:59 seconds) as well as a few small browns, mainly Saccharina spp. (0:49 seconds) and the acid kelp Desmarestia (0:37 seconds). The fan hydroids and encrusting bryozoans seen growing on the rocks theprevious year have mostly been replaced by small, red seaweeds and filamentous diatoms (0:10, 1:05 seconds). Other invertebrates seen on video: blood sea star Henricia leviuscula leviuscula (0:46, 1:30 seconds), giant sea cucumber Parastichopus californicus (1:01 seconds), mottled sea star Evasterias troschelii (1:16 seconds), small unknown anemone (1:30 seconds).
