Normal Fault

Normal, or Dip-slip, faults are inclined fractures where the blocks have mostly shifted vertically. If the rock mass above an inclined fault moves down, the fault is termed normal, whereas if the rock above the fault moves up, the fault is termed a Reverse fault.

The video is a simple animation showing a cross section of the earth with a road, grass, and a tree at the surface. There is an inclined fracture in the middle of the cross section. The left side of the cross section moves down, offsetting the road and grass.
