Toxic algal blooms have emerged in the public consciousness due to a variety of human illnesses and animal illnesses and mortalities. The blooms are quite visible to the public, there is perception that blooms are getting worse, and they are encountering or at least noticing animal illnesses and mortalities more frequently. This talk will discuss toxin exposure, toxin production, socioeconomics and the methods we advance to support this work.
