Public-supply groundwater withdrawal in Tennessee in 1985 totaled about 243 million gal/day, or about 54% of the total groundwater used. Most of the withdrawals were from the Tertiary Memphis Sand in Shelby County (Memphis), West Tennessee (141 million gal/day). This report presents data on water-level changes in the Chinot and Evangeline aquifers during 1977-89 and 1988-89 and data on measured compaction during 1973-89.
