The U.S. Geological Survey is pleased to announce Dr. Ngozi Butler-Guerrier as the new director of the USGS Office of Diversity and Equal Opportunity.

Dr. Ngozi Butler-Guerrier was named the new director of the USGS Office of Diversity and Equal Opportunity (DEO).

In this role, she will provide guidance, training, and other assistance on equal employment opportunity (EEO) Title VI Public Civil Rights and diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility (DEIA) related matters to managers, supervisors, and employees. Dr. Butler-Guerrier will also manage the discrimination complaints programs and coordinate hearings and appeals with the Department of the Interior (DOI), the Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) Commission, and the DOI’s Office of the Solicitor.   

Dr. Butler-Guerrier is a recognized expert in providing leadership, planning, coordination, integration, and execution of EEO and DEIA programs. Her career spans more than 20 years in the private and federal sectors. She most recently served as the EEO/DEIA Director of the Office of Inclusion and Civil Rights at the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration. Her previous positions include the EEO director at the Defense Nuclear Facilities Safety Board and the Special Emphasis Program manager at the Veterans Benefits Administration. She holds degrees from Florida Atlantic University, the University of Phoenix, and Argosy University.
