Kowalski to Lead Field Trip at the Great Lakes Coastal Wetlands Symposium

September 12, 2019

In association with the 2019 Great Lakes Coastal Wetlands Symposium

Dr. Kurt Kowalski (GLSC, Ann Arbor, Michigan) will co-lead a field trip as part of the 2019 Great Lakes Coastal Wetlands Symposium planned for September 19-20, 2019 at Maumee Bay Lodge, Oregon, Ohio. Organized by the Great Lakes Coastal Assembly (a cross-agency team of over 20 organizations working together to conserve and restore lands and waters in the critically important coastal zones of the Great Lakes) and Audubon Great Lakes, this symposium will bring together over 100 conservation practitioners, scientists, and coastal wetland stakeholders to discuss scientific principles and share experiences with best practices for managing coastal water, vegetation, and wildlife. Over two days, participants will explore the state of our coastal wetlands in the face of a rapidly changing climate, discuss current topics related to coastal wetland management, and provide input on the management of high-priority sites in the western Lake Erie basin. Dr. Kowalski will share information on wetland ecology and USGS research during a field trip through the USFWS Ottawa National Wildlife Refuge on Lake Erie.
