Data Release - Digital subsurface data from previously published contoured maps of the tops of the Mowry Shale, Morrison Formation, and Minnelusa Formation, Powder River basin, Wyoming and Montana
This digital data release contains previously published contours on the tops of the Mowry Shale, Morrison Formation, and Minnelusa Formation. The maps are from a series of U.S. Geological Survey Miscellaneous Field Studies (MF) showing computer-generated structure contours, isopachs, and cross sections of selected formations in the Powder River basin, Wyoming and Montana (Crysdale 1990, 1991a, 199
Digital subsurface data from previously published maps of the base and thickness of post-Eocene continental deposits in the Sacramento Valley, California
Post-Eocene (predominantly Pliocene) continental sedimentary rocks of the Sacramento Valley, CA are up to 1,200 m thick beneath the valley. These rocks contain most of the fresh ground water in the valley, forming a key component of the total water budget for the valley. A 1974 study by the U.S. Geological Survey was an early attempt to develop detailed knowledge of the subsurface geology of the S
A geodatabase of Surficial Geology of the Allentown 30x60-Minute Quadrangle in Pennsylvania digitized from the original map of Braun, 1996
This Scientific Data Release is a spatial geodatabase representation of Braun, D. D., 1996, Surficial geology of the Allentown 30x60-minute quadrangle: Pennsylvania Geological Survey, 4th ser., Open-File Report 96-48, 17 p., 1 map, scale 1:100,000. These geospatial data depict surficial geologic materials in the Pennsylvania portion of the Allentown 30 x 60-minute quadrangle in eastern Pennsylvani
Digital subsurface data from previously published contour map of the top of the Wilcox Group, northern Gulf of Mexico coastal region
The lower Paleogene Wilcox Group crops out around the northern edge of the Gulf of Mexico Basin and is a major coal-bearing unit and a primary oil and gas producer in the lower Paleogene section of the Gulf Coast region. The outcrop distribution of the Wilcox Group and other coal-bearing strata of the Gulf Coast region was compiled as part of a U.S. Geological Survey National Coal Assessment (Warw
Fault data collected between 1996 and 2019 from the Buffalo River watershed area, northern Arkansas
Information on the locations and characteristics of faults were collected while conducting fieldwork between 1996 and 2019 in support of geologic mapping in the Buffalo River watershed area of northern Arkansas. A total of 1274 entries on faults were recorded at 452 sites. The observations associated with faults include seven categories of increasing completeness of information.
Field-saturated hydraulic conductivity time series and sediment accumulations following the 2017 Nuns and Tubbs wildfires, Napa and Sonoma Counties, CA, USA
This dataset comprises repeat surveys of field-saturated hydraulic conductivity and sorptivity following the October 2017 Nuns and Tubbs wildfires as part of an effort to document soil-hydraulic recovery. A summary table includes associated physiographic properties for each site, including: pre-burn vegetation, lithology, soil burn severity, location, soil texture, and associated van Genuchten par
Cascadia subduction zone database: compilation of published datasets relevant to Cascadia subduction zone earthquake hazards and tectonics (2022)
In this database, we compile and host several available onshore and offshore geologic, paleoseismic, geophysical, and instrumental datasets along the Cascadia subduction zone. The ScienceBase data release and downloadable map package is accompanied by an ArcGIS online map and StoryMap.

Aeromagnetic Data of Alturas, California, and Surrounding Areas
This data release provides access to an aeromagnetic survey over a part of northeastern California, an area that includes the city of Alturas, California. The survey extends across the Devils Garden part of the Modoc Plateau (west of the Warner Range) and westward to over Medicine Lake volcano. The survey covers the Likely fault zone, an enigmatic northwest-striking set of structures with possib
Digital subsurface data from previously published contoured maps of the top of the Dakota Sandstone, Uinta and Piceance basins, Utah and Colorado
The top of the Upper Cretaceous Dakota Sandstone is present in the subsurface throughout the Uinta and Piceance basins of UT and CO and is easily recognized in the subsurface from geophysical well logs. This digital data release captures in digital form the results of two previously published contoured subsurface maps that were constructed on the top of Dakota Sandstone datum; one of the studies a
Data release for cosmogenic beryllium-10 exposure ages of moraine boulders in the Stura Valley, Maritime Alps, northwestern Italy
This report summarizes the cosmogenic beryllium-10 (10Be) geochronologic results from boulders deposited on moraines in the Stura Valley of the Maritime Alps, the southwestern most extent of the European Alpine mountain chain, northwestern Italy. Within this report are detailed the methodologies used to collect samples of whole rock, determine the concentrations of cosmogenic 10Be in purified quar
Zircon U-Pb data for volcanic ash beds in the Barstow Formation, California probe data 2022
Zircon grains separated from altered ash beds were analyzed to better understand the ages of the beds. Isotopic analyses for U-Pb geochronology and trace element geochemistry were performed simultaneously by secondary ion mass spectrometry using the Stanford-USGS SHRIMP-RG ion microprobe housed at Stanford University, USA. Analyses followed the analytical protocol and data acquisition conditions d
Root thread strength, landslide headscarp geometry, and observed root characteristics at the monitored CB1 landslide, Oregon, USA
This data release supports interpretations of field-observed root distributions within a shallow landslide headscarp (CB1) located below Mettman Ridge within the Oregon Coast Range, approximately 15 km northeast of Coos Bay, Oregon, USA. (Schmidt_2021_CB1_topo_far.png and Schmidt_2021_CB1_topo_close.png). Root species, diameter (greater than or equal to 1 mm), general orientation relative to the s
